In a bid to unravel the mysteries surrounding the demise of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, his family has taken a significant step forward by pursuing a DNA test for his son, Liam.
Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, has initiated legal proceedings against his son’s wife, Wunmi, seeking accountability through the court.
NigeriaNewsToday reports that the Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu recently granted an order for substituted service on Wunmi regarding the pending DNA test application.
This development underscores the family’s determination to seek closure and clarity regarding Liam’s paternity.
According to Monisola Odumosu, the Aloba family’s lawyer, the notice of the pending DNA test application was duly served by pasting it at Wunmi’s last known address.
This legal action adheres to the prescribed legal procedures, ensuring that all parties involved are duly informed and afforded the opportunity to participate in the legal process.
“We expect her to be in court or [have] her legal representation on May 14, 2024,” stated Odumosu, emphasizing the importance of Wunmi’s presence or representation during the court proceedings.
The lawsuit filed by Mohbad’s family seeks various orders from the court, including the conduct of a DNA test for Liam at a recognized and accredited medical facility, with the expenses borne by the applicant.
Additionally, the family requests Wunmi’s compliance in submitting herself and Master Liam Aloba for the DNA test.
Furthermore, the application seeks permission for the chief pathologist in charge of Mohbad’s remains at the Military Hospital, Yaba Lagos, to conduct a DNA test for Liam using samples from the deceased’s body.
Despite the legal proceedings, attempts to serve the court process on Mohbad’s wife at her Lekki residence on March 8 were reportedly unsuccessful, highlighting the complexities surrounding the case.
Mohbad’s untimely demise on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27 sparked controversies and raised questions on social media platforms.
As a former signee of Marlian Music, owned by Naira Marley, Mohbad’s exit from the label in February 2022 added another layer of intrigue to the circumstances surrounding his death.
Following Mohbad’s passing, the Lagos State Police Command inaugurated a special investigation team to probe the singer’s death.
This investigation led to the arrest of prominent figures, including Naira Marley and Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry.
The exhumation of Mohbad’s body for autopsy on September 21, 2023, further underscores the gravity of the situation and the collective quest for truth and justice in the wake of his tragic demise.
