The tranquility of Angwan Juma’a in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State was shattered as Abdulazeez Idris, a resident of the area, was apprehended for the harrowing abduction and murder of his 6-year-old cousin, Aisha Saidu.
The tragic incident unfolded as young Aisha made her way to Islamiyya school, only to encounter her cousin, Abdulazeez, who purportedly seized her.
Despite recognizing her cousin, Aisha fell victim to his brutality, as he allegedly used a razor blade to fatally slash her.
Adding to the horror, Abdulazeez reportedly proceeded to orchestrate a ransom demand of N8 million through an unknown caller, masquerading as the perpetrator.
Confirming the grim details, ASP Mansur Hassan, the Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, disclosed that the heart-wrenching event transpired on February 12, 2024.
Mr. Saidu Dahiru, Aisha’s father, reported her disappearance to the Zaria City police station, prompting swift action from law enforcement.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Hassan revealed, “The case was transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of SCID Kaduna, where they traced and arrested the perpetrator, identified as Abdulazeez Idris, in Makarfi Local Government.”
He continued, “The suspect confessed to the heinous crime, admitting to slaying the innocent child by brutally slashing her neck with a razor blade because she recognized him and then disposing of her lifeless body in a well.”
Expressing determination to secure justice for Aisha and her grief-stricken family, Commissioner of Police CP Audu Dabigi pledged thorough investigation into the matter.
He assured the public that no stone would be left unturned in bringing the perpetrator to account for his heinous actions.
As the investigation progresses, Abdulazeez Idris will face legal consequences for his alleged crimes, with plans underway to expedite his trial in court.
