The representive of Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Bello El-Rufai, in the House of Representatives, has refuted claims of his involvement in the award of contracts during his father’s tenure as the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.

In an interview titled ‘With Shuraim’ hosted by Yaya Abba, Bello addressed allegations concerning contract awards during his father’s administration.

He emphasized that he was not actively engaged in contract-related activities during that period.

“I didn’t really stay in Kaduna doing contracts,” Bello stated, highlighting that his father took a deliberate step to keep him away from the political scene and contractual engagements.

He credited his father for his foresight in shielding him from potential controversies.

Reflecting on his early years during his father’s governance, Bello acknowledged his limited involvement in political affairs, attributing it to his father’s decision to send him “on exile” to avoid undue influence or pressure from contractors seeking favors.

Bello commended his father’s leadership, describing him as an exceptional leader and an advocate for progressive governance.

He lauded Nasir El-Rufai’s strategic approach to governance, particularly during his tenure as governor of Kaduna State.

The lawmaker also highlighted his professional background, noting his work experience in the technology firm, Huawei, which provided him with insights into organizational structures and operational dynamics.

Bello’s remarks come amidst allegations of financial mismanagement and debt accumulation leveled against Nasir El-Rufai’s administration.

He reiterated his belief in his father’s administrative acumen and expressed gratitude for his father’s guidance and leadership.
