Resignation Galore As Four Wike Loyalists Quit Fubara’s Cabinet

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara’s administration is facing a fresh wave of resignations as four more commissioners, loyal to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, have stepped down from their positions.

The latest resignations include Chinedu Mmom from the Ministry of Education, Gift Worlu from the Ministry of Housing, Jacobson Nbina from the Ministry of Transport, and Inime Aguma from the Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation.

Mmom and Worlu attributed their exits to a toxic working environment, while Nbina cited an “unresolved political crisis” in the state.

Aguma emphasized a lack of room for professional development as his reason for resigning.

These resignations come after three commissioners, Zacchaeus Adangor, Emeka Woke, and Alabo George-Kelly, previously stepped down from the Ministries of Justice, Special Projects, and Works, respectively.

These officials were initially part of the commissioners who resigned last December during the political turmoil in the state but were reinstated following President Bola Tinubu’s intervention.

Governor Fubara’s recent announcement of plans to establish a panel of inquiry to investigate the governance of the state under the Wike administration has further fueled tensions.

Fubara accused his opponents of deliberately undermining his administration, expressing hope for a resolution to the state’s issues.

However, the feud has deepened, leading to conflicts with the state House of Assembly.

Recent events saw lawmakers loyal to the governor-elect a new speaker, while Fubara issued an executive order relocating the sitting venue of the Rivers State House of Assembly to the Government House, citing safety concerns.
