Popular street singer, Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, has been released by the Lagos State Police Command, following a night spent in police custody.
The artiste’s arrest on Tuesday in the Abule Egba area of Lagos sent shockwaves through his fanbase.
Portable’s arrest stemmed from allegations of refusing to settle the balance of a G-Wagon vehicle he purportedly purchased from a car dealer.
According to reports, the vehicle, valued at ₦27 million, saw Portable paying only ₦13 million, leaving a balance of ₦14 million outstanding.
In a series of viral videos, the ‘Zazoo Zeh’ crooner was seen engaging in a dramatic confrontation with law enforcement officers, attempting to evade arrest.
However, he was eventually apprehended and spent the night in police custody.
Police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the release, stating that Portable was granted bail on Wednesday and is expected to return alongside the car dealer later for further proceedings.
“He has been released; he was granted bail on Wednesday to come back with the complainant later,” Hundeyin stated, indicating that the outcome of their meeting would determine the police’s next course of action.
This incident marks another chapter in Portable’s encounters with law enforcement.
