The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Hamzat Adebola, on Thursday, paraded Lamidi Mukaila, popularly known as Auxiliary, the former Chairman of the Park Management System (PMS), before the media at the state police command headquarters.
Auxiliary’s arrest came after the Department of State Services (DSS) apprehended him at his Olodo residence in Ibadan, the state capital, last Tuesday.
This arrest followed months of pursuit by law enforcement agencies after the police had declared him wanted for alleged involvement in a spate of armed robbery, kidnapping, and murder cases.
Commissioner Adebola, while addressing journalists during the parade, affirmed that Auxiliary would face charges in court, underscoring the concerted efforts made by security operatives to bring him to justice.
Adebola stated, “Discreet intelligence-led search commenced for the sacked PMS chieftain with the help of technology, collaborative efforts with sister services, and community policing,”.
“Many locations were identified, traced, and combed for months until his recent arrest in a concerted effort with our sister services.”
During the arrest, a significant cache of weapons and other items was recovered from Auxiliary’s Diamond Hotel residence around Alakia-Isebo Egbeda.
The recovered items included firearms, ammunition, various types of guns, cutlasses, knives, mobile phones, a laptop, charms, vehicles, and a substantial amount of cash.
The Commissioner of Police declared “Moving forward, the suspect would be charged to court for offenses committed,”.
Adebola expressed gratitude to the public for providing credible information that facilitated the crackdown on crime in the state. He further reiterated the commitment of the command to decisively address any criminal activity aimed at regressing the state into the lawless era of the “Wild West.”
