President Bola Tinubu is currently engaging in discussions with the new President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, at the State House in Abuja.
The meeting, described as a courtesy call, marks President Faye’s first visit to Nigeria since assuming office.
President Faye, who took the oath of office on April 2, 2024, arrived at the State House forecourt at approximately 3 pm, where he was received with ceremonial honors by members of the military band.
Following the reception, President Faye proceeded to meet President Tinubu for a closed-door session, where discussions are expected to focus on bilateral relations and regional cooperation between Nigeria and Senegal.
The meeting signifies the importance of fostering stronger ties between the two West African nations and underscores Nigeria’s commitment to its role within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Details of the discussions held during the closed-door session are yet to be disclosed, but it is anticipated that President Tinubu and President Faye will explore areas of mutual interest and cooperation to enhance the socio-economic development of both nations.
