Bayer Leverkusen, became the first team to complete a Bundesliga season unbeaten, capping off their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Augsburg on Saturday.

Goals from Victor Boniface and Robert Andrich in the 12th and 17th minutes secured Leverkusen’s triumph, while Augsburg’s Met Komur managed to pull one back in the 62nd minute.

The atmosphere at the BayArena was electric, as fans celebrated their team’s unprecedented achievement following the season’s final game.

The club, in a series of tweets, expressed their elation: “𝟎 𝐁𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐚 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐬.

𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲: WE END THE BUNDESLIGA SEASON UNBEATEN! WE ARE BUNDESLIGA CHAMPIONS! WE DID IT.”

This milestone victory comes just a month after Leverkusen lifted the Bundesliga title for the first time in their 120-year history.

Their emphatic 5-0 win over Werder Bremen ended Bayern Munich’s 11-year dominance of the German top flight.

Xabi Alonso’s men displayed nerves of steel, knowing that a victory would secure the title with five games to spare.

A hat-trick from Florian Wirtz, along with goals from Victor Boniface and Granit Xhaka, extended their unbeaten run to a remarkable 43 games in all competitions.

Leverkusen’s maiden title, following five previous second-place finishes, signifies a dramatic shift in their fortunes and erases their long-standing ‘Neverkusen’ moniker.

The team’s extraordinary performance this season keeps their dream of achieving a treble very much alive.

Reflecting on the season, head coach Xabi Alonso praised his squad’s resilience and determination.

“This has been a season like no other.

The players have shown incredible spirit and commitment from the first game to the last,”

Alonso said. “To go an entire Bundesliga season unbeaten is a testament to their hard work and belief.

We are not done yet, and we look forward to continuing this journey.”
