Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has declared that the club is enjoying a golden era, after securing their fourth consecutive Premier League title, and sixth in seven years on Sunday.
Guardiola, who has a contract with City until 2025, expressed his intention to remain at the Etihad for at least another year.
“The reality is I am closer to leaving than staying after eight years.
We have talked with the club — my feeling is that I want to stay now.
I will stay next season and during the season we will talk,” he said.
Phil Foden was the star of the show, scoring twice as City defeated West Ham 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
The victory allowed City to edge out Arsenal by two points, denying the Gunners their first league title in 20 years.
Reflecting on the team’s success, Guardiola said, “When I moved here if someone had said I would win six leagues in seven seasons I would say you’re insane – no way.
All these players for Manchester United and Liverpool and Chelsea, all these teams.
Now is our period.
We are part of that.”
The 53-year-old Catalan has now amassed 15 major trophies in his eight seasons as City manager.
He looks set to add to this tally with the FA Cup final approaching next weekend.
Guardiola’s reign at Manchester City has been marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence, with his tactical brilliance and ability to inspire his players being key factors in their sustained success.
The team’s dominance in the Premier League under his leadership has been nothing short of remarkable, firmly establishing City as a powerhouse in English football.
The club’s fans, who have witnessed this period of unprecedented success, continue to wave their blue flags high, celebrating each triumph with fervor.
As Guardiola hinted at staying on for another season, the anticipation for more silverware continues to build among the Etihad faithful.
