Nollywood sensation Funke Akindele has once again proven her star power as she emerged as the highest-grossing actress for the year 2023.
Her movie “A Tribe Called Judah” shattered records at the Nigerian box office, solidifying her position as one of the industry’s leading figures.
Despite the phenomenal success of “A Tribe Called Judah,” which became the first movie to gross over N1 billion in just 21 days, Akindele faced disappointment at the 10th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
Despite receiving five nominations, the movie failed to secure any awards.
According to a report by Comscore, Funke Akindele’s earnings for 2023 amounted to a staggering N794 million, firmly securing her spot at the top of the list.
Following closely behind is the talented Shaffy Bello, who earned N216 million.
The list of top-grossing actresses also includes several other notable names, with Toyin Abraham ranking third with earnings of N144 million, followed by Omowunmi Dada with N129 million, and Mercy Aigbe with N126 million.
The top 10 list is rounded out by Bimbo Ademoye, Ireti Doyle, Nancy Isime, Sandra Okunzuwa, and Sophie Alakija, whose earnings ranged from N57 million to N122 million.
