A fuel tanker fell and caught fire on Saturday morning at the Ibafo/Aseese axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, causing significant traffic disruptions.
However, no lives were lost in the incident, according to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE).
Our correspondent on the scene observed emergency responders from the Fire Rescue Services, Federal Road Safety Corps, and other agencies working diligently to extinguish the blaze.
The fire was successfully contained around 8:30 am.
Traffic in the area, which had been severely impacted, is gradually returning to normal.
The congestion extended to the Wawa/Arepo axis of the expressway but is now easing as emergency operatives remain on the ground to assist with traffic flow.
TRACE Spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the incident, stating, “The fire incident occurred around 7 am.
As of 0830 hrs, the fire has finally been put to rest.
Traffic is gradually moving.”
Akinbiyi added, “Operatives are on the ground to ease the traffic.
I will provide additional updates later.”

While the immediate danger has been addressed, motorists are advised to remain patient and follow the directions of traffic officials to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles as normalcy is restored.
