The Kano State Police Command has declared its readiness to enforce a court order preventing the state government from dissolving the five recently established Emirates in the state.

In a briefing at the police headquarters in Bompai, Kano, the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Hussain Gumel, affirmed the commitment of the police to uphold the rule of law amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding the Emirates.

Gumel stated, “The Kano State Police Command will strictly enforce the court order restraining the state government from dissolving the newly established Emirates.

We are committed to ensuring that all actions taken comply with legal directives and uphold the peace in our community.”

The commissioner’s announcement comes at a time of heightened tensions following the state government’s decision to dissolve the Emirates, a move that has triggered significant public and political discourse.

The court order, aimed at maintaining the status quo pending further legal proceedings, has further complicated the situation.

Gumel emphasized the police force’s impartiality and focus on their duty to protect lives and property.

“Our priority is to ensure that law and order are maintained.

We urge all parties involved to respect the court’s decision and avoid any actions that could escalate the situation,” he added.

As events continue to unfold, the Kano State Police Command has deployed additional personnel to strategic locations to prevent potential unrest.

Gumel urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement officers during this period.

More details to follow as the situation develops.
