The Abia State Police Command has arrested a Chinese national, Gz Zhen, in connection with the alleged murder of crane operator Miss Ocheze Ogbonna.

According to reports, Zhen, who allegedly desired a romantic relationship with Ogbonna, is accused of causing her death.

State Police spokesperson Maureen Chinaka provided details on the incident, stating, “We received a report alleging that Mr. Gz Zhen, through his actions, led to the death of one of his staff members by the name of Vivian Ocheze Munachi.

The suspect has been arrested while an investigation is ongoing.”

Chris Nkwonta, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency of Abia State, expressed his sorrow over the loss of his constituent, Ocheze.

He condemned the alleged actions of the Chinese expatriate working at Inner Galaxy Steel Company in Umuahala-Obuzor.

Nkwonta accused Zhen of pushing Ogbonna from a crane after she rejected his romantic advances.

However, the spokesperson for Inner Galaxy Steel Company, Ceng Jing, refuted these allegations in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Jing claimed that the unfortunate incident occurred when Ogbonna fell asleep while operating the crane, resulting in her tragic fall.

In the aftermath of the incident, local youths have called for the arrest of Zhen, who serves as the manager of Inner Galaxy.

The community’s demand for justice underscores the heightened tensions and the urgency of a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ogbonna’s death.
