The mini-palace of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the deposed Emir of Kano, has become the center of attention as soldiers have been deployed following his return to Kano State.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s decision to dethrone the Emirs came alongside the signing of the repealed Kano Emirates Council Law, giving the deposed Emirs a strict ultimatum of 48 hours to vacate their palaces and hand them over.

While compliance was seen from other Emirs, including Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero (Bichi), Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa (Rano), Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar II (Karaye), and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir (Gaya), Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero’s return to Kano stirred controversy.

His arrival at the Aminu Kano International Airport at 4:30 am was met with fervent support as chants of verses from the Holy Quran resonated, expressing loyalty and prayers for his safety.

However, Governor Yusuf swiftly reacted, ordering his immediate arrest and accusing him of unsettling the state with his return.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf alleged that Ado Bayero was “smuggled” into Kano to forcefully reclaim his palace.

Upon his arrival at his mini-palace in Nassarawa, the deployment of soldiers was observed, adding to the tense atmosphere in the region.

The reason for the additional troop deployment remains unclear.

In a concerning development, Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo accused the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, of facilitating the return of the dethroned Emir.

Gwarzo alleged that Ribadu arranged for jets to transport Ado Bayero to Kano, raising questions about the motives behind such actions.

Amidst these tensions, Governor Yusuf reiterated his stance, ordering the immediate arrest of Ado Bayero for allegedly exacerbating the volatile situation in the state.
