Emirates Tussle: Government Begs Tinubu To Move Deposed Emir Bayero, Out Of Kano

Amid the chieftaincy crisis in Kano State, the government has made a fervent appeal to President Bola Tinubu to facilitate the relocation of the deposed 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, from the state.

The government expressed concerns that Bayero’s presence in Kano poses a significant threat to the peace and stability cherished by its people.

The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam, made this plea during a press conference on Monday, addressing the ongoing unrest surrounding the chieftaincy imbroglio in the state.

Abdussalam elucidated the government’s decision to reinstate and accompany Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir, as he ascended to the throne, emphasizing the lack of communication regarding any restraining court order received by the government.

He clarified that only one out of the eight respondents named in court documents, specifically the Inspector General of Police, was served with such an order.

Furthermore, Abdussalam accused certain individuals within the All Progressives Congress (APC) party of instigating sporadic protests against both the dissolution of the emirates and Sanusi’s reinstatement.

He pointed out the organized efforts to foment chaos, citing sponsored protests and petitions as evidence of political machinations at play.

In an impassioned plea, Abdussalam beseeched President Tinubu, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and other relevant agencies to investigate the unfolding events in Kano and take swift action to remove Bayero from the state, asserting that his presence poses a looming security threat.

The recent reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano by Governor Abba Yusuf on Friday has escalated tensions in the state amidst conflicting interests and political maneuvering.
