Kano Tussle: My Removal Was Predestined – Dethroned Emir Of Gaya

The ousted Emir of Gaya, Aliyu Abdulkadir, has accepted his dethronement, attributing it to the will of Allah. Abdulkadir expressed his acceptance during an interview with BBC Hausa on Sunday.

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano recently dethroned the Emirs of Bichi, Rano, Karaye, Kano, and Gaya, reinstating Muhammad Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.

Sanusi had been previously dethroned in 2020 following a dispute with Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of Kano.

Governor Yusuf ordered the deposed monarchs to vacate their palaces within 48 hours.

While the Emirs of Bichi, Rano, Karaye, and Gaya have complied, Aminu Ado Bayero, the ousted Emir of Kano, has not.

Bayero has called on authorities to ensure justice is served.

In his interview, Abdulkadir stated that he harbors no ill feelings towards anyone and has no intention of challenging the Kano state government’s decision.

He described his removal as predestined.

“If this happens to anyone, he will not be happy, but Allah has brought it, no matter what, there is an end to it,” Abdulkadir said.

“Allah has written it even before we were born that it will be, so we should not be angry about anything.

This is Allah’s doing and we accepted it with open arms.”

Abdulkadir emphasized his acceptance of destiny and expressed gratitude despite the circumstances.

“We are the acceptors of destiny.

This is what Allah willed and this is what will be done.

We have no intention of going to court.

We have accepted destiny, we thank God,” he added.

Following the governor’s decision to reinstate Sanusi as Emir, parts of Kano experienced a wave of protests, indicating the contentious nature of the move.
