The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has launched a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, condemning what it describes as a year of hardship and suffering for Nigerians.
Speaking to reporters in Abuja on Tuesday, CUPP’s spokesperson, Comrade Mark Adebayo, painted a grim picture of the nation’s condition under Tinubu’s leadership, asserting that the promised improvements in various sectors have not materialized.
Adebayo expressed disappointment, stating, “For the first time in the history of this country, Nigeria was unfortunate to have a president whose first minute in office was marked by unprecedented infliction of unmitigated suffering on the people.”
He particularly criticized the administration’s handling of the economy, security, education, health, and infrastructure, highlighting a significant deterioration in these areas since Tinubu assumed office.
Adebayo lambasted the sudden removal of fuel subsidy as a “thoughtless and wicked” move, describing it as “economic terrorism” against Nigerians.
He accused the administration of lacking sensitivity to the plight of the people and failing to implement policies that would alleviate suffering.
He argued against the justification for subsidy removal, suggesting that the government should have targeted criminals involved in subsidy theft instead of punishing innocent citizens.
He criticized the administration for blindly adhering to neo-liberal economic policies imposed by international financial institutions, resulting in the devaluation of the Nigerian currency.
In conclusion, Adebayo called for urgent action to address the challenges facing the nation, urging the Tinubu administration to reconsider its policies and prioritize the well-being of Nigerians.
