American Billionaire Plans Daring Titanic Expedition To Prove Point

Larry Connor, a 74-year-old American billionaire and real estate magnate from Ohio, has unveiled ambitious plans to conduct a deep-sea submersible expedition to the Atlantic, aiming to demonstrate the feasibility of a manned voyage to the wreckage of the Titanic.

Connor, the founder of luxury estate investment firm Coroner Group, intends to embark on this historic journey alongside Patrick Lahey, the founding partner of Triton Submarines.

This initiative comes one year after a tragic deep-sea dive claimed the lives of five individuals, including OceanGate CEO Stockon Rush, businessman Shahzada Dawood, his son Suleman, billionaire entrepreneur Hamish Harding, and explorer Paul-Henry Nargeolet.

The ill-fated voyage, undertaken in June 2023 aboard OceanGate’s Titan submersible, ended in disaster when the vessel imploded at a depth of approximately 3,500 meters below sea level.

In his announcement, Connor expressed his determination to push the boundaries of exploration while ensuring the safety of the expedition.

He emphasized the significance of this endeavor, stating, “We believe that a manned journey to the Titanic is not only possible but crucial for advancing our understanding of deep-sea exploration.”

The tragic incident involving the Titan sub served as a stark reminder of the risks inherent in deep-sea exploration.

However, Connor and Lahey are confident in their preparations and the technology provided by Triton Submarines, known for its expertise in underwater vehicles.

As preparations for the expedition progress, Connor and Lahey remain committed to upholding the highest safety standards and honoring the memory of those lost on the previous voyage.
