The city of Kano is gradually returning to a state of calm following recent tensions surrounding the throne of the Emir of Kano, even as Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II marks the 6th day of his reinstatement.

While the Sunusi camp insists on his legitimacy as Emir, backed by his reappointment by Governor Abba Yusuf, a Federal High Court in Kano issued a counter order to his reinstatement pending the resolution of a challenging suit.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), more District Heads and members of the Tijjaniyya Shura Council have affirmed their allegiance to Emir Sanusi.

Prominent figures such as Khalifa Sayyadi Bashir, Khalifa Abdullahi Uwaisu, Sheikh Ibrahim Shehu Maihula, and Barrister Habibu Dan Almajiri have also endorsed Sanusi’s claim to the throne.

During a recent court session, Emir Sanusi received the fealty of 40 District Heads and prominent individuals, despite challenges from the Emir Aminu Ado Bayero camp.

NAN’s observations in Kano revealed that many residents were resuming their normal activities.

Although security presence was notable at the Emir’s Palace and Bayero’s guest house, residents seemed largely undisturbed.

Alhaji Kabiru Abubakar of Dakata Quarters noted that most residents were more focused on their livelihoods than the Emirship dispute, expressing confidence in the state’s political and religious leaders to resolve the matter swiftly.

Hajiya Aishatu Danlami of Brigade Quarters praised the state government for banning protests, preventing potential chaos.

She commended residents for resisting provocations aimed at causing confusion.

“Allah has spoken, and Sanusi is now in the palace, piloting the affairs of the Emirate. May Allah continue to guide him to bring about the progress we desire,” she told NAN.

Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu viewed Sanusi’s return as reflective of the people’s will, while Alhaji Musa Isa of Dala urged Bayero to accept the situation as the will of God.

Meanwhile, the Kofar Kudu palace of the Emir witnessed heightened activities, with people flocking to witness royal displays and performances.

The palace grounds buzzed with vendors selling various wares, while praise singers and drummers entertained guests paying homage to the reinstated Emir.
