The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) on Thursday assessed President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office, acknowledging that Nigeria faced challenges even before his emergence.
Founder of the NNPP, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), highlighted Tinubu’s awareness of the country’s crises before assuming power.
He noted that Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda was crafted to address these challenges decisively.
“While the President may have made some decisions that drew criticism, such as removing the corruption-infested oil subsidy without a cushioning plan, these measures are expected to yield long-term benefits,” Aniebonam stated.
He emphasized that Tinubu’s administration, alongside his cabinet, had moved Nigeria from the intensive care unit to the general ward, signaling hope for the nation’s future greatness.
Aniebonam urged Nigerians to redouble their efforts and make sacrifices for the nation’s progress.
He stressed the need for enhanced productivity in various sectors, including education, rule of law, science and technology, agriculture, industrialization, and the fight against corruption.
Regarding opposition, Aniebonam emphasized responsible and constructive criticism, urging opposition parties to prioritize the nation’s welfare over political agendas.
He advised Tinubu to appoint the most qualified individuals to critical positions to drive Nigeria’s renewal agenda effectively.
Furthermore, Aniebonam urged the President to prioritize the rehabilitation of Nigeria’s Federal Highways to enhance security and reduce accidents and criminal activities.
