Troops of Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP) have successfully neutralized five bandits in the Dantarau area of Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
This was disclosed by, the state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement issued on Sunday.
Aruwan revealed that the troops engaged the bandits in the Dantarau community, resulting in the elimination of five criminals.
He detailed the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, a locally fabricated sub-machine gun, AK-47 magazines, motorcycles, and handheld radio sets from the bandits.
In addition to the ground operation, the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch targeted bandit camps in the Sabon Birnin Daji general area of Igabi Local Government Area.
Aruwan confirmed the success of these airstrikes, stating that several bandits were eliminated, with others sustaining injuries and seeking medical support in the area.
Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, expressed his satisfaction with the operation’s success and commended the troops, led by Major General MLD Saraso, for their dedicated efforts.
Governor Sani urged the military to maintain the momentum in the ongoing fight against banditry in the state.
“We are pleased with the achievements of our troops in Operation Whirl Punch.
Their dedication and bravery are commendable,” said Governor Sani.
“We encourage the military to continue these operations to ensure the safety and security of our citizens.”
