Super Eagles and Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, has hit back at former Super Eagles manager, Finidi George, and critics questioning his commitment to the national team.

This follows Osimhen’s exclusion from the Super Eagles matches against South Africa and Benin Republic due to injury.

In a live Instagram video on Saturday, Osimhen responded angrily to comments attributed to Finidi, clarifying his desire to stay with the team despite his injury.

“I knew things like these would happen and that’s why I have the videos and screenshots of when I called Finidi while I was with the doctor in Germany,” Osimhen stated.

He explained that he sustained an injury during Napoli’s last game against Lecce and had informed Finidi about it.

“I got injured in our last game against Lecce and I went to the MRI scan. And I called Finidi there for him to listen to the doctor too,” Osimhen recounted, emphasizing his transparency with the former manager.

Osimhen revealed his willingness to remain with the team in camp despite his injury. “I asked Finidi George to allow me stay with the players in the camp, but Finidi asked me not to bother and that I should stay with my family,” he said.

Defending his dedication to both his club and the national team, Osimhen declared, “Everybody knows I play my heart out whenever I’m playing for the club or national team.” He expressed frustration over the criticisms he has faced after recent matches, noting, “Now after two bad games, everybody is now blaming me.”

Osimhen also indicated his intention to share evidence of his conversations with Finidi. “I’ll share the screenshot and videos of my conversation with Finidi for the sake of those believing what Finidi said,” he stated.

In a sharp rebuke to Finidi, Osimhen added, “I’ve lost respect for that man because before I disrespect anybody, I always respect them.”

Highlighting his resilience and commitment, Osimhen reminded fans of his past efforts. “I know how many injuries I’ve played with for Nigeria and I played my heart out but after two bad games, everybody is attacking me,” he lamented.

The striker’s comments come amid ongoing scrutiny of the Super Eagles’ performance and the management’s decisions, adding another layer to the challenges facing the national team.
