The Managing Director of Fouani Company, Mohamed Fouani, along with two Lebanese nationals, the boat captain, and his assistant, have been rescued from kidnappers.

The rescue operation took place late Monday night in the Orugbo Iddo area of Lagos.

The Lagos State Marine Police, supported by the Nigerian Navy, successfully conducted the rescue. Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the victims’ release, stating, “Last night in Orugbo Iddo, five of them, three Lebanese, the boat captain, and his assistant were rescued.”

Hundeyin elaborated on the joint effort, adding, “Our Marine Police, with the support of the Nigerian Navy, brought them to shore. Thereafter, our tactical team in the area took them home on Banana Island in the early hours of today.”

The incident began on Friday when Fouani, along with the other victims, was abducted while sailing from Apapa to Victoria Island. The kidnapping occurred near the Falomo Bridge.

The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of $1.5 million, but it remains unclear if any payment was made before the hostages were released.

The successful rescue highlights the effectiveness of the coordinated efforts between the Marine Police and the Nigerian Navy. The swift action taken by the authorities ensured the safe return of all five individuals without any reported injuries.

Authorities continue to urge caution and heightened security measures for those traveling through vulnerable areas.

As the investigation continues, the police have not yet disclosed whether any suspects have been apprehended or if any ransom was paid to secure the release of the hostages.
