The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continued its ward-to-ward campaign on Friday, with a jubilant and massive crowd welcoming the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, to Uduna/Oghede ward in Ovia North East Local Government Area.
Enthusiastic Reception
Chants of “Man wen sabi, you are our next governor” and “Asue-Ogie na our own, Oduna/Oghede is for you” echoed through the air as the crowd expressed their support for Dr. Ighodalo.
PDP Leadership Remarks
In his opening remarks, PDP Chairman for Ovia North East, Hon. Monday Enihoro, thanked the residents for their overwhelming turnout. He urged them to continue supporting the PDP.
Hon. Collins Osamede Ogbeiwe, Chairman of Ovia North East Local Government Council, also expressed gratitude for the people’s support during the local government council election.
He highlighted ongoing projects by the state government in the LGA, such as the Ekewan Road project, the Gelegele project, and rural electrification initiatives.
He reassured that Oduna and Oghede ward has always stood by the PDP and will continue to do so.
Call to Action
The council chairman urged residents to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ready and vote for the PDP’s “Umbrella” symbol.
Edo State PDP Chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, and the Director-General of the PDP Governorship Campaign Council, Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, both emphasized the importance of voting for the PDP, stressing that it is the only party that fulfills its promises and delivers good governance.
Ighodalo’s Promises
Addressing the crowd, Dr. Asue Ighodalo promised to empower women and youth in their various businesses and provide support for the elderly if elected.
He assured that his administration would collaborate with market leaders to enhance market infrastructure and revitalize agriculture in the local government.
Ighodalo also pledged to complete the ongoing Gelegele Seaport and Ekewan Road projects to boost economic activities in Ovia North East and Edo State as a whole.
He thanked the people of Oduna and Oghede for their support and confidence, promising that their ward and local government would receive due consideration in government projects and initiatives.
Campaign Trail Continues
As the campaign train moved towards other wards, the energy and support for Dr. Ighodalo and the PDP remained palpable.
