The Rivers State Police Command has announced that it will not tolerate protesters blocking roads as demonstrations enter their second day.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu, addressed the protesters on Friday morning, acknowledging their peaceful conduct and responsible demeanor.

In his remarks, Disu praised the demonstrators for their orderly behavior but emphasized the importance of maintaining public order. “So far, so good. I am saying thank you. If you think we are going to come here and have confrontation with you, you have failed.

If that is what is on your mind, then it will not happen,” he stated, assuring the crowd of the police’s intention to avoid conflict.

Disu made it clear that while the police support the right to protest, they would not permit road blockages that could lead to panic or disruption.

He urged the protesters to remain on the sides of the roads. “We don’t want you to block the road. We will stay here with you. Our job is to protect you. Anywhere you want to go, we will go with you,” he said.

The Commissioner expressed gratitude for the cooperation and understanding shown by the protesters. “You guys have been so wonderful to us, whether you like it or not. You guys know your rights and you stand by them,” he added.

Disu also highlighted the unique level of cooperation from the people in Rivers State, noting that it was unlike any other he had experienced during his career across the country.
