The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Ajiboye Omodewu, has passed away after a prolonged battle with an undisclosed illness.
Omodewu, a prominent figure in the state’s political landscape, succumbed to the illness after nearly a year of receiving treatment in the United States, where he was also a citizen.
Omodewu, who hailed from Otu in Itesiwaju Local Government Area, served as a commissioner in various ministries during the administration of the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi.
He was well-regarded for his contributions to the development of Oyo State during his tenure.
In addition to his political career, Omodewu recently achieved a significant milestone by completing his law degree and attending law school, a testament to his commitment to personal growth and education.
The news of his death was confirmed by the APC’s Publicity Secretary in Oyo State, Olawale Sadare, who issued a brief statement expressing the party’s grief over the loss.
“Yes, it is true. Our Chairman, Ajiboye Omodewu, has passed away. It is a sad moment for all of us,” Sadare said in the message.
