‘I Don’t Run From Fights,’ Wike Vows To Remain In PDP

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reiterated his commitment to remaining in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), despite ongoing internal conflicts within the party.

Wike, known for his outspoken nature, made this declaration during a media parley on Wednesday, marking his one-year anniversary as a minister.

“I don’t run away from any fight. I will stay and fight it out. Who am I going to run from? The vampires? I cannot do that!” Wike asserted, addressing speculations about a possible exit from the PDP due to the tensions within the party.

The minister’s comments follow less than 24 hours after Chief Edwin Clark, a former Federal Commissioner for Information, publicly called for Wike’s expulsion from the PDP.

In an open letter, Clark urged the PDP National Chairman, Iliya Damagun, to take action against Wike, accusing him of leveraging his influence with President Bola Tinubu to undermine Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the PDP.

In response to whether he might consider leaving the PDP, Wike remained steadfast. “Anyone who knows me knows if I wanted to join the APC, I would do it openly.

I’ve never hidden my stance, and I won’t start now. Integrity is very important,” he stated.

Wike, who has long been a central figure in the PDP, emphasized that his commitment to principles has always guided his actions.

He credited his resolute stance for the PDP’s victory in Rivers State, saying, “People must know you for something.” He also dismissed his critics as being fearful of his influence within the party.
