Cristiano Ronaldo, the five-time World Player of the Year and football icon, has officially launched his YouTube channel, “UR. Cristiano,” which garnered over 1 million subscribers within the first hour of its debut on Wednesday.
This record-breaking feat further solidifies Ronaldo’s status as a global phenomenon, following his unprecedented social media following of over 917 million across various platforms.
Ronaldo, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, currently captains both Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia and the Portuguese national team.
With a career spanning more than two decades, the 39-year-old has scored more than 890 official senior career goals, making him the top goalscorer in football history.
His illustrious career includes stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, Sporting Lisbon, and Juventus, and he has amassed 33 trophies, including five UEFA Champions League titles and five Ballon d’Or awards.
The newly launched YouTube channel, “UR. Cristiano,” promises to offer fans an in-depth look into Ronaldo’s life beyond the pitch.
The channel kicked off with 17 new videos that delve into his “greatest passion”—football—while also exploring his other interests such as family, wellness, nutrition, preparation, recovery, education, and business.
Ronaldo will also engage in conversations with various guests, providing fans with a deeper understanding of the legendary player.
Speaking about the launch, Ronaldo expressed his excitement:
“I am very happy to make this project come to life. It has been in my mind for a long time but finally we have the opportunity to make it real.”
Ronaldo also highlighted the importance of his relationship with fans, noting that the YouTube channel will offer an even bigger platform to connect with them.
“I have always enjoyed having such a strong relationship with fans on social media and my YouTube channel will give me an even bigger platform to do so and they will learn more about me, my family, and my views on many different subjects.
I am also looking forward to sharing conversations with guests that will no doubt surprise people!” he added.
The launch of “UR. Cristiano” is expected to shake up the YouTube landscape, with the channel set to rival American YouTube personality MrBeast, who currently holds the record for the most-subscribed channel with 311 million subscribers as of August 2024.
