President Bola Tinubu is set to embark on a significant diplomatic visit to Beijing, China, by the first week of September, according to the presidential spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale.
Although the specific date of departure has not been confirmed, Chief Ngelale disclosed that the Nigerian leader’s agenda includes a series of high-level meetings aimed at bolstering the nation’s economic and security interests.
Chief Ngelale stated, “President Tinubu will engage in a series of meetings with his Chinese counterpart and 10 Chief Executive Officers of major corporations for the economic benefit of the country.”
These meetings are expected to result in the signing of several bilateral agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), covering a broad range of sectors.
Among the key areas of cooperation highlighted by Ngelale are the green economy, blue economic development, and national planning.
The President’s visit will also address critical issues of national, regional, and international security, reflecting Nigeria’s growing strategic interests on the global stage.
A major focus of the discussions will be the completion of the Abuja to Ibadan segment of the Lagos-Kaduna standard railway, a crucial infrastructure project for Nigeria’s transportation sector.
Chief Ngelale further revealed that the talks would extend to critical sectors such as information technology, refining, oil and gas, and satellite technology.
“These discussions are geared towards deepening cooperation in these vital sectors,” he added.
