The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has lauded the commencement of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) production at the Dangote Refinery, describing it as a monumental step forward for Nigeria’s energy independence and economic growth.
In a congratulatory letter addressed to the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, NUPENG expressed its excitement and optimism about the opportunities this development will bring, particularly in terms of employment, socio-economic prosperity, and national growth.
The letter, signed by NUPENG’s General Secretary, Afolabi Olawale, also extended commendations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the entire team at Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company.
Olawale stated, “The leadership and entire members of NUPENG celebrate and felicitate with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and the entire management team and staff of Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company on the historic and landmark commencement of the production of gasoline, otherwise known as Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).”
Reflecting on the significance of this achievement, NUPENG highlighted that the refinery’s successful production of PMS represents not just a milestone for Dangote Refinery but a significant leap towards Nigeria’s energy self-sufficiency.
“This remarkable achievement at the world’s largest single-train petroleum refinery and petrochemical plant is a testament to your unwavering commitment, innovation, and excellence in the energy sector,” the statement read.
NUPENG praised Dangote for his visionary leadership and the courage to pursue such an ambitious project, noting that his contributions to Africa’s industrialization and economic development are commendable.
“We are very proud of you, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, you are a man with uncommon courage and determination. You have dared to dream and tread where no mortal has ever done,” Olawale added.
The union also acknowledged the potential challenges ahead, particularly from “enemies of the masses and economic saboteurs,” but vowed to stand by Dangote Refinery in defending and protecting this milestone achievement.
“As NUPENG, we pledge to make available all our might and resources to defend and protect this beautiful African pride,” the statement emphasized.
NUPENG expressed its eagerness to continue collaborating with Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company to ensure the growth and sustainability of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
“We look forward to continuing to collaborate and partner with Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company to ensure the growth and sustainability of the oil and gas industry,” Olawale concluded.
The union reaffirmed its unwavering support, stating, “Our solidarity remains constant,” and wished Dangote continued success in his future endeavors.
