The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a stern warning to the public, advising against the purchase and use of products being sold by the Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry (CMDM), headquartered in Effurun, Delta State.

According to the agency, the products, which include “Miracle Water,” “Miracle Soap,” and “Father Smelled Perfume,” are unregistered and fake.

The ministry, led by Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, has been at the center of controversy following allegations by social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, that the products lacked NAFDAC approval.

These products have been heavily advertised by the ministry, with claims that they possess healing powers capable of curing ailments such as barrenness.

In a statement signed by NAFDAC Director General, Prof. Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye, the agency confirmed that the Miracle Water, Soap, and Perfume were not approved for public consumption.

“The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) wishes to alert the public on the activities of a faith-based organization – Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries – that uses NAFDAC’s name to deceive unsuspecting public,” Adeyeye said in the statement.

NAFDAC revealed that petitions had flooded in from concerned citizens regarding the ministry’s sale of products, purportedly registered with the agency.

The products were advertised on social media with claims of miraculous healing, including promises that women would conceive twins after using the soap.

The NAFDAC Director General explained that investigations into the ministry’s activities led to the discovery that the products were being sold to unsuspecting members of the public for as much as ₦3,000 per bottle.

However, despite having evidence of transactions, the ministry’s officials, including the Head of Service and Chief Security Officer, denied producing or selling the products when confronted by NAFDAC officials.

Adeyeye further disclosed that when NAFDAC attempted to visit the ministry to gather samples for laboratory analysis, the ministry’s officials refused to cooperate.

Instead, the ministry submitted a legal document to NAFDAC, delaying further investigation.

“In continuation of our investigation, NAFDAC has sealed Globod Table Water factory for aiding and abetting the production, sale, and advertisement of unregistered and unwholesome Miracle Water under the pretext of Fake NAFDAC Registration Number,” Adeyeye stated.

The agency stressed that none of the products being sold by the ministry had undergone the scientific vetting process required for NAFDAC registration.

The public was therefore advised to refrain from patronizing these products.

“NAFDAC is a scientific organization that is guided by verifiable scientific facts before registering any product.

We will continue our investigation into the activities of this faith organization with regards to products within our mandate,” Adeyeye assured Nigerians.

NAFDAC also issued a warning to faith-based organizations, reminding them of the legal consequences of producing regulated products without the necessary approvals.
