The Managing Director of XpressRide, Ismaila Yusuf Atus, has called on the Nigerian government to prioritize transformative reforms in the country’s transportation sector in 2025.

Delivering his New Year message, Atus stressed the urgent need for a more affordable, secure, and efficient transport system to address the challenges faced by Nigerians in 2024, particularly rising fuel prices and limited ride availability.

In 2024, many Nigerians felt the pinch of rising costs and inflation, which made transportation more difficult and expensive. From higher fuel prices to fewer available rides, these hardships tested our patience and resilience,” Atus said.

He urged the federal government to focus on solutions that enhance affordability and safety, such as a system allowing citizens to track their rides in real time while ensuring a sense of security during travels.

Imagine an affordable system where you can track your ride in real time and feel safe every time you travel. It’s important that every Nigerian feels secure and confident when getting into a car, no matter the circumstances,” he emphasized.

Atus also underscored the potential of the transportation sector to create employment opportunities for Nigerian youths, advocating for the expansion of the ride-hailing industry to support economic growth.

Let’s also prioritize creating jobs for our teeming youths and encouraging the use of vehicles that are fuel-efficient and suited for our roads. By supporting our own people and resources, we can create a more reliable and affordable ride-hailing system,” he said.

As part of XpressRide’s vision for 2025, Atus highlighted the adoption of sustainable practices, including the use of fuel-efficient vehicles tailored to Nigerian roads. He argued that such measures would lower transportation costs and promote environmental sustainability.

Atus called for collective effort in improving the transportation system, urging Nigerians to contribute ideas and solutions.

We invite all Nigerians to join us in this mission. Your support and ideas are vital as we work together to improve transportation for everyone. Let’s make sure our voices are heard and our needs are met. Together, we can build a brighter future for our nation and make transportation a source of pride for every Nigerian,” he concluded.

With transportation reforms at the forefront of national conversations, Atus’ message serves as a rallying call for a collaborative effort to create a sector that meets the needs of the people and drives economic development.
