Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, marking a historic return to the White House for a second, non-consecutive term.

The indoor swearing-in ceremony, a break from tradition due to severe cold weather, took place at the US Capitol on Monday. Trump’s inauguration follows his initial tenure as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021.

Vice President JD Vance, who previously represented Ohio in the Senate, took his oath of office before Trump’s swearing-in. Chief Justice John Roberts administered the presidential oath to Trump at exactly 12 p.m. ET, with First Lady Melania Trump standing beside him.

Trump, with his right hand raised and his left hand resting on a Bible held by Melania, recited the oath:
“I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, so help me God.”

The event was attended by approximately 700 guests, far fewer than the anticipated 250,000, due to its indoor setting.

In his inaugural address, Trump delivered a fiery speech, setting a bold agenda for his second term.

The golden age of America begins right now,” Trump declared. “We will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of any longer. I will, very simply, put America first.”

Outlining his vision, he added, “Our mission is clear: to secure our borders, grow our economy, strengthen our military, and protect the rights of every citizen.”

He also promised swift action, saying his administration would enact executive orders addressing immigration, energy policies, and economic measures on his first day in office.

Trump called for what he described as a “revolution of common sense,” emphasizing the need to tighten immigration policies, reverse prior border measures, and implement new tariffs.

Our goal is to ensure that America is not just a beacon of hope but the envy of every nation,” he said.

Trump’s return to the presidency is unprecedented, making him the first US leader to serve non-consecutive terms since Grover Cleveland.

His Vice President, JD Vance, is expected to play a pivotal role in the administration’s focus on economic revival and border security.

As the ceremony concluded, Trump reaffirmed his commitment to restoring America’s strength and unity, saying, “This is a moment of renewal, and together, we will chart a new course for the great people of this nation.”

The inauguration marks the beginning of what Trump and his supporters hope will be a transformative era in American history.
