The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has issued an apology to its customers following a nationwide power outage caused by a general system collapse.

The collapse occurred at 15:09 hours on July 6, 2024, disrupting the electricity supply across multiple states.

In a notice to its customers, EEDC stated:

“EEDC wishes to inform her esteemed customers of a general system collapse which occurred at 15:09 hours today, 6th July, 2024. This has resulted in the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network.”

The affected regions include Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States. The company expressed its inability to provide services due to the loss of supply from its interface TCN stations, which are currently out of operation.

EEDC added, “Due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide services to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.”

The company reassured its customers that they are on standby, awaiting detailed information regarding the cause of the collapse and the expected restoration of power supply from the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo.

Customers have been urged to remain patient as efforts are underway to resolve the issue and restore normalcy. Further updates will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.
