Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has assured residents that his administration will prioritize their welfare in the coming year as part of efforts to mitigate the nation’s economic challenges.

In a New Year statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke disclosed that the 2025 fiscal year would mark a shift toward “soft infrastructure,” following two years of relentless infrastructural development across the state.

This new year will witness extensive implementation of soft infrastructure. The goal is to ensure that good roads are complemented by strong bodies, strong citizens, and residents. My only motivation will continue to be the well-being of the good people of Osun State and to remain as before; a responsive, listening, and compassionate governor,” Adeleke affirmed.

The Governor highlighted that ongoing and new social programmes would be implemented in 2025 to cushion the effects of economic hardship on the people. Reflecting on the progress achieved in the past year, he said his administration’s advancements spanned multiple sectors, staying true to the principles of transparency and accountability.

In the last one year, we got and processed several requests for information based on the Freedom of Information Act. We ensured access to information as a transparent and accountable government,” Adeleke stated.

Reiterating his commitment to prudent financial management, Adeleke emphasized that the state had funded its projects without resorting to loans. “Our projects have been financed mainly from state resources, including internally generated revenue and allocations from the federation account. Just as I have not been accessing security votes, I had not borrowed a single kobo to run the state government,” he said.

The Governor also extended a hand of collaboration to opposition parties, urging them to leverage the Freedom of Information Act to request data on government programmes. He called for collective efforts to improve the state’s fortunes.

As democracy is a government for the people of the people and by the people, I call on those seeking specific data on government programmes to take advantage of the Freedom of Information Act. Specifically, I enjoy the opposition to join the state government as we turn the fortune of our state for the better. We are all stakeholders,” he remarked.

Governor Adeleke’s pledge to focus on welfare and maintain fiscal discipline aligns with his administration’s vision of delivering sustainable governance and fostering unity across political divides in Osun State.
