Based on a statement released by the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on Monday, the troops conducted special fighting patrols to Tumburku village and Sabon Sara, both located in Giwa LGA, based on credible intelligence.
During these operations, the troops encountered fleeing bandits and engaged them, resulting in the neutralization of two bandits. The recovered items from the encounter included a motorcycle, a mobile phone, gas lighters, assorted charms, and a polythene bag containing petrol.
Among the neutralized bandits was a notorious leader identified as Dogo Bangaje, alongside a close associate.
The success of the operation underscores the commitment of the security forces to rid the area of criminal elements.
In another leg of the operation at Basurfe village, southwest of Kindandan, troops encountered and repelled an ambush by bandits, forcing them to flee on motorcycles.
Two additional bandits were neutralized during this engagement.
The raid on Basurfe village also led to the dislodgement of a camp used by the insurgents as a treatment area.
Recoveries made at the location included two AK-47 rifles, one pump action rifle, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition, one Improvised Explosive Device (IED), two radios, one motorcycle, as well as cigarettes, drugs, and medical accessories.
Commending the troops for their bravery and dedication, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State praised the efforts of the troops under the leadership of Major General MLD Saraso, the GOC 1 Division and Commander Operation Whirl Punch.
He urged the security forces to sustain the momentum in flushing out criminal elements from the area, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
