Youths from the Niger Delta region, under the umbrella of the Coalition of Niger Delta Youths Stakeholders (CNDYS), staged a massive rally in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.
The rally, which drew a large crowd, was organized to express support for President Bola Tinubu and his administration, as well as to commend him for appointing Dr. Dennis Otuaro as the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).
The enthusiastic youths, donning T-shirts and Fez caps bearing the inscription “We appreciate the Jagaban on the appointment of Otuaro,” marched in unison from the Okutukutu area to the popular Tombia roundabout, covering over a kilometer.
Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei, the convener of the coalition, highlighted the significance of the rally, emphasizing the unanimous support of youth groups across the region for President Tinubu’s decision.
He expressed gratitude for the appointment of Dr. Otuaro, stressing its potential to bring peace and stability to the Niger Delta.
Kemepadei remarked, “The massive youths are saying that Mr. President has done well; they are saying that Otuaro’s appointment is going to bring peace in the Niger Delta.
The youths are saying that because of the appointment of Otuaro, there won’t be restiveness and gunshots in the region.”
He further attributed the relative peace in the region to President Tinubu’s leadership, citing the award of surveillance contracts to local leaders for the protection of oil pipelines as a contributing factor.
Echoing Kemepadei’s sentiments, Hellington Barakumor, the deputy coordinator of the group, applauded Otuaro’s appointment as well-deserved.
He assured that the youths would actively promote peace and unity in the Niger Delta under the leadership of President Tinubu.
